Microsoft Bespoke and Software Development

At JFDI Phoenix, our consultants have a proven track record of excellence in delivering line of business (LOB) applications, departmental and enterprise systems, web applications and e-commerce solutions. Our software development experience spans three decades on the Microsoft platform and beyond.

What makes JFDI Phoenix different?

ProcessOur consultants all come from a background of IT heavy lifting – using technology to do the hard work. More than two decades ago, we abandoned the notion of writing systems one screen at a time. In the early 90’s we devised business systems that ran from metadata.

We turned bespoke software development from a repetitive task, fraught with potential opportunities for failure, into self-describing systems with predictable, declarative outcomes. We developed our own engines for forms rendering, workflow, content management and service orientation in an era where these tools were not commonplace. Savings in effort and reductions of risk we passed on to our clients. Our day rates were high, but our timescales were short and our predictability was valuable.

Nowadays, these tools are far more widely available, even mainstream. What remains a constant for JFDI Phoenix is being ahead of the curve. Knowing how these components work inside the black box means we are able to operate at an intuitive level. We replace our intimate knowledge of our own products with intuitive understanding of products written by companies with a much higher research and development budget than us:

  • Microsoft .NET Framework
  • Microsoft InfoPath and Forms Server
  • Microsoft SharePoint 2010 Server
  • Microsoft Excel Services
  • Microsoft Windows Workflow Foundation
  • Microsoft BizTalk Server

Software Development Projects

Among our delivery, development and architecture teams, we have certified experts in all versions of the Microsoft .NET Framework, ASP.NET, Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft SharePoint. In today’s bear market, it is our people that give us the edge.

Architecture

Buildings adapt to change; their architecture allows for it. You can redecorate, reallocate or redesign any part of it without knocking it all down and starting again.

So why can’t we do the same with software architecture? Most software architects design stuff that is then programmed or coded by others who aren’t architects. All JFDI’s architects write code; all our architects are hands-on – Enterprise Architects and Solution Architects alike. Architecture must accept change. We might not know what those changes will be, but we create the architecture that is flexible enough to accommodate them. We Architect for Change.

Process and Methodology

Working Together

We understand the importance of process. Why then, the name “JFDI”? Process has the immense power to both help and hinder delivery teams. Good process should allow teams to communicate and work cohesively.

Whichever methodology you are used to, we can talk. Fluent in Agile, Scrum, XP, 4-D, Rational Unified Process – RUP, Prince, or even Waterfall – on-shore or off-shore.

We also realise that, regardless of methodology, project success is frequently snatched from the jaws of defeat by parachuting in a team of IT heroes. When project success is in the balance, you can rely on our people to go the extra mile – to Just Do It.

Systems Integration

Composability and Reuse in Software

With experience going back to Corba, DCOM and EDI, we understand how to build successful composite systems and service orientated architectures. Many of the tenets that were true then are still true today – it’s just that the tools have got a lot better at supporting best practice.

Reusable, composable, autonomous services are today a reality, supported by platforms such as Microsoft BizTalk Server and Microsoft Windows Workflow Foundation through to diverse platforms such as IBM DataPower integration appliances and InterSystems Ensemble and Caché technologies.

SharePoint Consultancy

Our consultants have performed implementations large and small, of all versions of the Microsoft SharePoint product suite from SharePoint 2001 through to SharePoint 2010. Not only can we help you architect and implement a complete SharePoint environment to meet your needs, we are also highly experienced in using SharePoint as a world-class web application development platform.

With a firm foundation of the Microsoft .NET Framework covering versions including .NET 1.0, .NET 1.1, .NET 2.0, .NET 3.0, .NET 3.5 to .NET 4.0 coupled with an impressive understanding of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server and Windows SharePoint Services, InfoPath and Forms Server, Excel Services and Office Business Applications – JFDI Phoenix is a palpable choice for SharePoint development projects and SharePoint training.
